Tomorrow is the last day of school and I’m not sure who is more excited – me or the kids. Summer and all its possibilities stretches before us like golden magic. Chocolate ice cream. Movie theater darkness. Bike rides on dirt roads. Evenings on the porch. Fireflies. Cut grass. Cool, green water.
One of the great pleasures of being a parent is the reliving of summertime childhood delights – and few things allow us to do that like family vacations. Which may be why today has me remembering the three perfect, mostly complimentary days we spent at Basin Harbor Club in Vermont last summer.
And what better day to do this kind of dreaming than Instagram Travel Thursday?
There are so many things to love about Basin Harbor Club. It sits on the shores of Lake Champlain and offers so many different ways to play in the water. On a paddleboard:
In a rowboat:
Or just by jumping in:
Basin Harbor also has abundant amounts of fresh, delicious food. My older son is crazy for the nachos at the Red Mill Restaurant:
And I’ll admit that my favorite thing was all the dessert buffets, especially the one where I could make my own sundae:
Colorful Adirondack chairs are to be found everywhere at the Basin Harbor Club, the ultimate symbol of summer relaxation. You’ll find them on signs:
In smaller sizes on the playground:
Through the windows of your room:
And even on the screen doors:
But perhaps the best thing about the Basin Harbor Club is the sunsets:
And if these photos don’t satisfy your summer dreams, I’ve shared a few more in my Instagram stream today.

My family and I were guests of Basin Harbor Club and most of our expenses were covered including our room and meals.
