Maine with kids: A visit to Portland

By Mara 5 Comments

We’re in Vermont (and very excited for a trip to the Basin Harbor Club this weekend) but I wanted to share a quick photo postcard of our trip to Maine earlier this week. We spent a few days in and around Portland, which is where my father grew up and where I was born. I loved showing the boys my grandparents’ house and also exploring some new places like Peaks Island in Casco Bay.

If you’re visiting Maine with kids, I definitely recommend stopping in Portland as there are so many things to do (plus lots of amazing pizza). I’ll have more details next week – meanwhile, I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Relaxing on the Pine Point Beach in Scarborough, Maine Biking on Peaks Island is the perfect kid-friendly activity in Portland, Maine The boys loved getting close to the waves on Peaks Island, Maine Teddy made this lobster using only found materials Climbing on the rocks on Peaks Island, Maine Palace Playland is an old-school amusement park in Old Orchard Beach, Maine Mackworth Island is a magical spot in Falmouth, Maine You can't visit Maine without eating lobstah!

Pics look amazing, the beach pic makes me really want to go to the beach…..but then I realise I’m in the UK and it’s raining all the time haha.

Fiona – it actually rained about half the time in Maine as well if that’s any consolation! Thanks for stopping by.

Your photos are beautiful! I would’ve never guessed that Portland had great pizza…will have to try it if I ever visit the area.
