When we were in Bristol England’s Millennium Square last summer, the boys were delighted to find a familiar face among the statues of famous Bristollians there. Although William Penn is of course rightly famous for founding Pennsylvania, when he came to the United States he landed in what is now New Castle, Delaware. We used to live in New Castle and actually attend church right up the street from another statue of Penn. We definitely felt like perhaps the two statues are gazing at each other across the Atlantic.
I’m also looking forward to next week, when I’ll be writing about our visit to Bristol, including a lovely stay with Heather Cowper of Heather on Her Travels. Until then, I’ll leave you a link to her video of a walk around the Bristol Harbourside area (as it is spelled there).
