A return to the Prime Meridian

By Mara 8 Comments

Here’s a picture of our very first visit to the Prime Meridian in Greenwich England:

And here we are, seven years and one additional family member later:

Our family at the Prime Meridian 2010

One of the reasons it’s fun to return to places you’ve been before with kids is that children serve as such a great visual reminder that time has passed! And of course, there’s also the chance to experience things differently. When we were in Greenwich with Tommy as a toddler, we spent the entire time we were waiting for our turn at a photo op chasing him around the courtyard (that’s why Matt is holding him in the photo – it was the only way to keep him in one place). This time Matt and I stood in line while the boys wrestled each other. And then when our turn arrived, we seized the moment to get a picture of Matt keeping the boys from coming to β€œhis” side of the world:

Who do you think won?

For Photo Friday at Delicious Baby. Hope you’ll check out the other great travel photos. And have a wonderful weekend.

How fun to return to the same destination and see the differences and how much the kids have grown. Can’t wait to have that moment with my children and hoping it’s during multiple returns to Maui over the years. We had a great first family vacation there this summer with both children.

Love the “before and after” shots – fun idea!

I was thinking about such “before and after” pictures when I was looking through some old photo albums a couple of weeks ago…it was interesting to see the changes in the places we’d visited a half-dozen years or so ago and more recently as well.

Fun photos! We love returning to places too and have found that to be one of our favorite things on our open ended world tour. One really does experience a place very diferently at different times.

We were recently in Paris when my daughter was almost 10 and it was fun to compare experiences and photos from our visit when we started our world tour when she was 5 in 2006 to some of the same places. She remembered them from the first visit, but I wanted to return now so that she has a better sense of them all.

It is also fun to compare different seasons. We went to Pont du Gard in Provence in Oct of 2006 & it was a totally different place this summer in high season.
