It’s nearly 11 p.m. and we just rolled into our driveway about an hour ago after 18 days on the road. What should have been 9 and a half hours of driving from Lexington, Kentucky to Delaware stretched to about 12 today for a variety of reasons, all of them unavoidable (except perhaps choosing to travel on the Sunday of a summer holiday weekend – maybe we should have given that a pass). So right now, the most appealing and dreamy thing to me is the thought of my own pillow!
Of course, we had a wonderful trip and I have tons to share including some insights about things like trying to drive at 60 miles per hour, the best fried chicken in Kentucky, and the beauty of staying with friends who have kids. But given the mountain of laundry and unpacking I have to do, it’s likely to be a couple of days before I’m back blogging again. In the meantime, if anyone has their own Monday dreaming post to share, I invite you to do so below.
The photo was taken somewhere in Iowa on a long haul to Kansas City. The boys actually were being really good sports but were “getting their wiggles out” as best they could while remaining strapped in.
My Monday Dream is that my family lived closer to me. I know, boring, but true!
Oh, this is a classic shot. It says volumes, and it can make any parent smile who endures long rides with the kids. Glad you are back safely – good luck with the laundry pile!
