I have spent no time at all in the Pacific Northwest; the closest I ever came was dating a guy in college who grew up on Vashon Island (and although we were happily situated in the middle of Vermont, he did nothing but miss it). But today I’m dreaming of Seattle. I know that there are a million things my kids and I would love to do there including eating our way through the Pike Place market and watching the famous “flying fish” being tossed around. A boat ride in the Puget Sound would also be a must, and perhaps we would drive out to the Cascades for a hike. Since Tommy’s favorite food is sushi, I imagine that Seattle would be a dream come true for him. And Teddy would love the Space Needle (although nothing can take the place of the Eiffel Tower, it might make a good American substitute).

The other reason I’m dreaming of Seattle this morning is that I think there must be something terrific in the water there. So many of the great travel bloggers I admire live there, including:

Michelle (aka Wandermom) and Beth from Wanderlust and Lipstick where you’ll find tons of great information about travel for families and solo travel for women. Michelle has some great posts about eating and hiking with her kids in Seattle.
