Relaxing at the Omni Hotel at Independence Park

Omni Hotels + summer = family vacation fun

On our recent visit to Philadelphia, we were lucky enough stay at the Omni Hotel at Independence Park. What I like about Omni Hotels is that they offer low-key luxury with some touches that are really practical for family travelers. These include generously sized rooms.

Omni rooms are nicely sized

Omni also offers a snack for kids when you arrive and a really super loyalty program that’s free to join and offers meaningful perks like a free night after ten stays, free wi-fi, and coffee delivered to your room in the morning (and what’s more luxurious for parents of young children than having someone bring you coffee at the crack of dawn?).

Of course, the boys’ favorite thing about Omni Hotels is the goodies that await them when we check in. I’m always glad the room is a good size, because these toys get played with immediately.

Our room in Philadelphia also came with the added bonus of some pretty sweet views of the iconic Independence Hall.

(We could hear the bell in the clock tower chime the hour.)

In fact, you can’t ask for a better location if you’re visiting Philly – just steps away from all of the historic attractions and close to many family-friendly restaurants.

Of course, this was not the first time we’ve stayed at an Omni Hotel; earlier in the year Matt, Teddy, and I spent a night at the Omni Berkshire Place in New York City and we’re also long-time fans of the Omni Shoreham in Washington, DC. So when I heard about Omni’s summer promotion, I just had to share it with you. (I don’t often write posts like this, so you know that I actually think this is worth checking out.)

Called “Camp Omni,” the package offers some sweet features including:

    •  A 15 percent discount on your room (minimum two-night stay)
    • A call from the concierge before your stay to help you plan your visit
    • Free breakfast for kids 12 and under from either the buffet (which at the Shoreham is awesome!) or the children’s menu
    • A ten dollar gift card for children to use in the hotel
    • A camp newsletter that has a scavenger hunt; completed hunts can be turned in for a merit badge and special dessert
    • A special welcome backpack for kids stuffed wtih s’mores flavored marshmallows and a water bottle

The package is available through September 16, 2012 – so it will work for your summer plans, or even an early fall getaway. I think this is not only fun for kids but a great value, since the rates range from $189 to $349. You can expect variations across the different properties (it’s also not available in all Omni Hotels), and of course, you’ll want to book now to make sure you get the dates you’re interested in.

To demonstrate just how fab this program is, Omni is hosting a number of family travel bloggers this summer at different properties around the United States. You can stay up to date on their adventures by following  @OmniHotelsPR or the hashtag #CampOmni.

Although Omni provided me with a free hotel room in Philadelphia, they did not compensate me for this post or even ask me to write it – I just like their hotels and think this is a great promotion. You can always count on me to share my honest opinions about the places I stay.

  1. It’ll good to know about the Omni at Independence Park and the promotion as we travel the length of Route 1 this summer. We’re planning on camping for the most part, but in cities such as Philly we’ll be “forced” to stay in places with a few more comforts. A splurge in Independence Park might be just what we need by the time we are passing through!
