Tommy took this picture of Teddy on our last day in England last summer. We were eating Italian food in Windsor before heading to the airport to catch our plane home. Our last order of business before lunch was to find a plastic souvenir cup for Teddy; we knew what we wanted because we have a similar one from the Eiffel Tower. Glitter and stars float around the inner core and I smile and think of our travels every time I wash it.
Do you have any fun souvenir traditions to help your children remember your trips?
And speaking of souvenirs, I hope you’ll come back on Monday to read about how I created a photo book about our trip to England last summer using the new Custom Path process at Shutterfly and to learn how you can win a free photo book for yourself.
I share this for Photo Friday at Delicious Baby. Have a great weekend!

I've taken with my children and those I want to take. Explore and you'll find family travel tips, information about vacation destinations, and lots of stories about our adventures!

We don’t have kids, but we like picking up ornaments for our Christmas tree on vacation. It’s fun to remember those trips each year when we hang the ornaments
As D get’s older, I keep trying to think of things to pick up for his room or for him to remember the trip by. He is still too young to truly remember, but I’m sure one day he will figure out what he wants to take home. I’m hoping it’s something small, like a magnet, but if he’s like me, he’ll want a big rock or something. For now he will have to settle for our growing hallway of photos (the photos get added, the hallway doesn’t actually get bigger- ha ha).
When my son was in his Hot Wheels phase, we picked up little cars, trains and planes where we went. He has an Airtran, USAirways and Delta plane as well as a Smart Car from Germany, a train car resembling Eurail cars, a bus from London! Like Dominique, we collect ornaments and lately I have been letting the kids each pick one that I am putting away for them someday. My daughter would love that cup that Teddy picked out!
My daughter collects thimbles, which I am so grateful for because they’re small, light, and inexpensive.
We collect stickers or pennants. They are usually the cheapest thing, and I am an anti pack rat. The stickers are placed on their camp trunks. So they’ll talk about it with friends and maybe the stickered trunk will turn into a hope chest, even if they stick it in the attic as adults, they’ll always have it and the trip memories too.
Our big tradition is to buy a Christmas ornament – don’t know when we started it, but it’s always fun at the end of the year for the kids to unpack the box of ornaments and remember their trips by the ornament we put up – a hula dancer from Hawaii, a bald eagle from Washington DC, and a beautiful Arizona desert scene on a ball.
