It’s been unusually warm here this week, more like summer than spring. On Monday I took the boys to Longwood Gardens where we caught the tulips on what was probably their very last good day.
After we had finished admiring them, we took a stroll along a small stream, looking for frogs. There weren’t too many out since it’s only April, but my two little naturalists did find one sunning himself on the bank.
Then it was on to the Italian Water Garden, looking as lovely as any vintage postcard.
We finished up by checking out the three tree houses on the property.
(Can you tell that Tommy has entered a tween wise-guy phase? I wonder how many pictures I will be publishing of him making faces like this in months to come.)
This week is spring break for my kids, which has meant some lazy days of hanging out with them and not too much work completed for me. We’re off to Washington D.C. for the weekend – I’m hoping that there are still a few cherry blossoms hanging on after the warm weather we’ve been having!
See more photos of our visit to Longwood at my new Facebook page (and while you’re at it, “like” the Mother of All Trips to stay updated on all our doings.) And don’t forget that you can still enter the the Austin-Leman Adventures giveaway of $5000 towards a trip for two. It’s super easy – just enter your name, email, and The Mother of All Trips as the blog you came from.

Welcome to the awkward tween photo years! You’ll be here awhile! Drives me crazy with my boys at times!
This place looks beautiful. How I would love to see the tulips! Even a frog for that matter!
