Can you guess where we were?

Let’s play a little game today, shall we? I know that I’ve got smart and well-traveled readers. Can you guess where these photos were taken?

We’ll start with a wallaby (doesn’t he have a cute and pleading air?);

and move on to a giant crab – look at those legs;

finishing with my personal favorite, beetles.

One more clue: There’s a sign above the beetles that says “An indordinate fondness for beetles,” which is a reply to the question “What can be inferred about the mind of Creator from a study of the works of Creation.”

If you’re interested in what this closet of curiosities is, please come back on Monday for a full post about it. And if you’d like to take a guess, please feel free to leave a comment.

  1. I’m stumped, Mara! I don’t fit the description of smart and well travelled! Look forward to reading more on Monday…

  2. I’ve not clue about the location, but I love the beetle photo…I never imagined there were so many different types or so many different colored beetles!

  3. How about the museum of Natural History at Harvard in Cambridge MA? They have some amazing collections of preserved animals and insects. Love the glass flowers there too.

    Other thoughts are those great Vermont museums – the Montshire in Norwich and the Fairbanks Museum in St Johnsbury. Can’t wait to find out!

  4. Awesome guessing game, can’t wait to see what the answer is and where it is!

  5. I have no idea what this is… but, mmmmm… crab legs…. :)

  6. Oxford Museum of Natural History? hahaha. I really had no clue, just admiring the pretty colors on the beetle, but I saw the photo label popup on my screen.
    Now I seem well-traveled.

  7. Mouse to the rescue, huh? Yeah, if you’re gonna have a guessing game, probably should not have labels!
