Every now and again I get to dreaming of a vacation without the kids. One that involves things like yoga, massages, cocktails and cooking classes. Now I don’t generally ever consider going on tours, but there’s a contest that has me intrigued at one of my favorite websites Wanderlust & Lipstick. It’s called the WanderWomen Write Travel Writing Contest and the grand prize is a 12-day Health and Harmony tour of Vietnam with an outfit called Buffalo Tours.
The Buffalo Tours website describes the trip in terms that can only be called dreamy:
This tour revolves around luxury resorts and spas, learning and practicing Tai Chi in the most beautiful destinations around Vietnam.
The trip looks pretty amazing – a cruise on a private junk, visits to a floating village, kayaking, and lots of tai chi are just a few of the things on the itinerary.

Yes, I’d love to get to Vietnam one day with the boys on perhaps a more authentic trip where we stay in local joints and explore the cities and beaches together. But I have to say, relaxing poolside at a nice hotel and staying on a private island both sound pretty nice. I’ll definitely be submitting an essay – and you should too! It’s free to do so and hey, you just never know. After all, this is a dreaming post, right?
If you’re interested in the contest, the submission guidelines are pretty simple – choose one of five categories (Adventure, Family Fun, Food & Drink, Off the Beaten Path, and Spiritual), write an essay between 850 and 2000 words and submit it by November 30. And of course, you have to be female. More details are available here.
What are you dreaming of on this Monday? Please feel free to share a link below, making sure you link directly to your post, not your site’s homepage and that you link back to this post. Questions? See About Monday Dreaming.

Ooooooh, Vietnam is so on the list of destinations for us. I’m waiting until the girls are old enough for the necessary vaccinations (we learned when we went to Thailand you have to be older than 2 to get Hep B and Yellow Fever. Eeep!). A girl can dream – wouldn’t it be awesome to travel together!?
I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go to Vietnam. How generous of you to share the essay contest info. with us, Mara

Hah! Too funny. My girlfriend and I plotted a similar vacation over dinner this past weekend. We’re thinking of leaving our kids behind and taking a yoga retreat somewhere.
You have to dream, eh?

Just returned from a half week trip with kids (without hubby) and just have to say I’m right there alongside you. Thanks for pointing out the contest, I am so motivated to enter right about now. What a great dream! (Will dream about taking the kids next time around.)
