Today I’m taking a break from my Road Trip Tip series for some Monday dreaming. I’m pleased to be sharing a photo post by Peter West Carey, an intrepid spirit, whom I met and shared a great Mexican meal with in July at the Travel Blog Exchange conference in Chicago. This after he drove there from Seattle in a van with two other travel bloggers; you can read more about their adventures at the TBEX Road Trip.
I’ve never seen the Himalayas and it’s definitely a dream of mine to do so (although I think it may be a while before I get to go on a trek!). Peter’s goal in sharing his pictures is to encourage others to get out and look at the world around them. I find his work inspirational and know that I’d love for my kids to have experiences of the kind he describes.

This photo was taken while I was trekking through the Khumbu region of Himalayas in Nepal. These Tibetan shepherds were catching up with a group near Phortse earlier in the day and sat with my group as they took a break. With no common language between us, I and my companions made friends by offering some snacks and water, in exchange for smiles and handshakes. A chance encounter that left its mark by bringing distant strangers a bit closer together.

More photos from Peter’s trip to Nepal can be viewed at his photography website, Hidden Creek Photography. Peter also blogs and shares amazing Photos of the Day at The Carey Adventures.

Got something to say?

I, too, would love to see Nepal someday. It’s filed away in my brain as a great trip to take with my boys when they’re grown.
