A bit of Marie Antoinette’s folly

052909_versailles_01

I rarely post pictures that don’t have my children in them, but for some reason today I felt like sharing a photo for your Friday viewing just because it’s pretty. This one was taken in the little faux village that Marie Antoinette built on the grounds at Versailles. We all adored this charming place; if you look at what this sculpture was next to, I think you’ll see why:

I believe that the building next to this fantastical structure was the creamery where the butter was churned. I”m not sure what the tower’s purpose was beyond pleasing the queen’s children – reason and purpose enough in my book.  Unfortunately the buildings aren’t all restored and so we couldn’t climb to the top. But that made it no less enchanting for my children.

The building looks fascinating. My kids will be kicking and screaming to go up there. :) I can’t wait to take them to Versailles. Lovely picture with the touch of color.

I just love that whimsical tower. You guys showed great restraint in not climbing it.
