Day out with kids: Madison Children’s Museum

I know it’s been a while since I’ve written about daytrip adventures here, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been having my share of them. When we were in Wisconsin over the holidays we spent a great day at the Madison Children’s Museum where the boys got to create a cityscape with some of the coolest blocks I’ve ever seen;

dig in a gravel pit;

play bongos enthusiastically (which Tommy did for almost a half an hour);

weave part of a tapestry made of recycled bags; and

play with snow indoors

among many other things.

Then it was across the street to the Wisconsin State Capitol building where with our family friend Dom, they raced up the steps to the rotunda to see the official state Christmas tree in all its glory (the restored rotunda alone would be worth the trip during off-season).

    This was one of our plans that bit the dust when we outran blizzards this winter. Looks like a great place–we’ll have to go back again!

    Congrats on the new gig!
