I don’t know if it’s the shiny layer of ice that coats everything here or if it’s because I’m making spring break plans but my thoughts today are of warmer climes. This picture was taken in Venice Beach, California where we were celebrating my father’s birthday with him and my stepmother. It marked the moment on our year of travel when Tommy, who had crawled into the Atlantic Ocean the previous June, dipped his toe in the Pacific and completed our cross-country journey.
Needless to say, he soon gave up trying to push his stroller and we rented bicycles and rode over to the Santa Monica Pier. Looking at this picture I can feel that warm sand under my toes…
For today’s Photo Friday at Delicious Baby. Please stop by there and check out the other wonderful posts. (And by the way, I’ve managed to blog about Venice, Italy and Venice California inside a week’s time, a fact about which I am inordinately proud!)

What a perfect shot – I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a socal beach so deserted.
That is a fantastic photo!
That is hilarious! He looks so determined…head down…so cute!
Cool photo. When there’s a will there’s a way.
I haven’t been to Venice Beach and would like to make it there.
So much effort…at least I hope he slept soundly that night!
My internet is funny lately in Spain, so this is the 2nd time I am trying to leave a message.
Adorable shot!
You won't believe it, but this middle age world traveling mom, use to be a bikini wearing roller skater on Venice beach, so lots of happy memories there.
I once did a volunteer thing on Easter dressed as the Easter bunny & had to skate through Venice to get there. I will never forget it because it was such a kick!
i too have spent oh so many hours on that beach! and ironically have also tried pushing a stroller through the sand. i feel his pain!
