The Mother of All Trips started in June 2008, as my family was preparing to go on a two-week trip to Paris. Really though, it started five years earlier, when my husband Matt and I spent 13 months traveling with our then one-year-old son Tommy. I wrote a book about that experience, and you'll also find that lots of the stories from that time turn up here. Throw in my many dreams of places I'd like to visit, the day trips we often take, and a host of posts about the best places to eat ice cream and you'll find there's a lot to read.

So today I’m taking a moment to look back and reflect. I love writing these posts, which brighten the [...]

But I wanted to take a quick moment to share some travel tips as part of the Tripbase Three Travel Secrets series. [...]

MidAtlantic Wednesdays: Christmas at the Brandywine River Museum

Living in northern Delaware, I’m very lucky to have my pick of wonderful museums all within an easy hour’s drive of my house. There is a wealth of art, history, and horticulture to be found – and that doesn’t even include all that Philadelphia has to offer. It’s hard for me to choose which one [...]

Mondays are for dreaming: The Angel Tree

This post was originally published last December, before I started sharing Monday Dreaming links and well before my site redesign. Since much about it fit my mood this Monday,  I decided to update it for this year and share it again.  Hope you enjoy! We decorated our Christmas tree this weekend and before it tipped [...]
