I’m going to write a full post about our day at the Mount Vernon estate but also wanted to share this photo of Teddy for Photo Friday at Delicious Baby.
I rented one of the audio tours thinking that it would be just the thing for 6-year-old Tommy, since it includes many kid-friendly entries about what such things as what a “ha-ha” wall is and what one uses a “necessary” for. But it also helped 3-year-old Teddy manage the wait to get into the mansion. Here he is listening to the story of what George Washington had for breakfast. Apparently this is serious business.
I've taken with my children and those I want to take. Explore and you'll find family travel tips, information about vacation destinations, and lots of stories about our adventures!

There’s a wooden teeth joke in here somewhere…
He is so cute — and very, very serious. So, what DID George Washington have for breakfast?
I love capturing moments like this. These are the shots that really bring me back into the moment when I look at them later
Can’t wait to read more about your trip
My kids are definitely digital natives and audio-tours have made museum visits so much easier for us lately.
I love the serious look on Teddy’s face in this photo
He looks so studious! I think you have a little historian on your hands!
Jamie, were that I were as witty as thou and I’m sure I could come up with a joke about the teeth. Tommy did buy a postcard of them to send to Grandpa.
Angela – I did not listen to the story and will have to get back to you on that. I haven’t had a chance to ask the kids.
And everyone else – he does have an amazing amount of focus. Although the entire time we were walking through the house he kept peeping (he likes to pretend he’s a little chick) and asking when he was going to see the farm animals.
What a darling little scholar!
oh that photo is priceless!!! i am smiling just looking at it.
I’ve always found those audioguides really help to keep the Kids attention when visiting museums and art galleries.
