If you make it over.. you will have to look me up It is very expensive over here..but if you plan, it is doable.. stay with friends/family..camp in a hytte… .

The WanderDad and I are both Irish, but we live in Seattle. Our kids have been to Ireland many, many times. (Check this out for some photos from a recent trip: http://wanderlustandlipstick.com/blogs/wandermom/2008/08/24/ireland-leprechauns-and-rainbows/).
So, my ‘Monday Dreams’ are not about returning to the place of my ancestors, but about going to all the places I haven’t been. We’re currently planning a RTW trip. I think you’ve just given me an excuse to write about interesting places we plan to visit as I research them. Thanks!

Thanks Andrea. I have not read that book, and will have to check it out (I’m thinking I need to start a thread about travel-related books on the blog to get me reading).

One nice thing about writing this is that it definitely is getting me to go out and do more things with Teddy. For months all I did was take him to the grocery store. This is better for both of us. I know that when he is 14 I’ll be very happy we went to the zoo instead of the produce aisle.

Have you read Heidi’s Alp by Christine Hardyment? You’d love it. I think they went to Norway or maybe it was Denmark. A good read in any case. I just tuned in to your blog and am enjoying it immensely. My kids are 14 now so I am envious of your time with Teddy one-on-one.

We are in Norway right now! It is the most expensive place in Europe, so dream lots of money to take with you! lol! Even camping, the prices are mindblowing!

The fjords are fabulous & think September too or at least after Aug 15th, because all of Scandinavia will be out at midsummer...unless your fantasy enjoys crowds.

Maybe you can look up some relatives! We ran into an American family here who did just that.

Sounds like a great dream. It is a beautiful country!
